So far from what I've seen I haven't found one movie of his that I didn' t like. I recently watched Spider. It was very interesting, I really enjoy psychology, so the film was great. I recently had a Rafe-athon movie weekend in which I watched:
The English Patient: Shows how versatile of an actor he really is!
Sunshine: Brilliant! I dont know what else to say about it!
Onegin
The Good Thief
Schindler's List: Definately one of the best movies out there!
Strange Days: Very Strange movie haha...but he did a great job!
The End of the Affair: So lovely, the screenplay between all the characters was just great!
Red Dragon: I couldn't help but to feel sorry for him in this movie. Excellent!
Quiz Show
Oscar and Lucinda
Harry Potter: Goblet of Fire-I absolutely LOVE Ralph as the villian. I'm so glad he decided to take on the role, I dont think anyone else could have pulled this one off. In all actuality I think every person in these films are perfect for them and I wouldn't like to see anyone else doing them.
The more I watch, the more I fall in love with his acting abilities...now if only I could catch him on stage....

The Good Thief was a very intersting movie, but Ralph only had a small part in it. I REALLY want to see him on stage...so maybe one of his plays will make it to the US, bc it not that easy to just get up and go to London or anything especially during the semester. But...one day...

Write Stuff, you said something I've always felt.....Were it not for Ralph Fiennes and only because of Ralph Fiennes did I ever watch Red Dragon! I had seen enough of Silence of the Lambs and heard enough about Hannibal to know these films are not for me! Even with Red Dragon, I've only seen the edited for network TV version. I know one day I'll get brave and see it in its entirety, but I'm in no rush.

As for Spider, I can't recommend it highly enough! I skirted around this one for a long time too, but my concerns were unfounded. Mr. Cronenberg treated this subject with sensitivity and respect and that's how Ralph played it. His performance was brilliant!! My only complaint is that this film didn't receive more exposure and recognition. Were it not for Ralph, I would have never even heard of it!

I've seen all of Ralph's work to date, except for The Miracle Maker, The Baby of Macon and How Proust Can Change Your Life. He even got me to sit through Harry Potter!

Yup, tragic romances, that would be me. I'm more of a "Wuthering Heights, End of the Affair, Constant Gardener" kind of girl. : )

Although I will gladly accept non-tragic romance anytime! : )

LOL so I couldn't resist I just had to rent the Avengers lol...and I will admit....as a whole the movie it quite cheesy, but it's a VERY different role for Ralph unlike his others, and I did enjoy his performance. I mean...Ralph in a suit, with his accent....makes it worth while :)

Oh yes, watched the Chumscrubber afterwards too. It was actually a very interesting movie, and I enjoyed it. The fact that it was a satire was really good, and sadly it's very true in some instances.

THE READER follows a compelling Script

"The Reader", Director Stephen Daldry and scriptwriter David Hare's follow-up to "The Hours raises so many interesting questions about guilt and personal responsibility that you can spend hours discussing it afterwards. But at the heart of this occasionally choppy movie is the life-changing romance between a shy German teenager (David Kross) and an older woman (Oscar-winning Kate Winslet) who, unbeknownst to him, once served as an Auschwitz guard. Ralph Fiennes plays the boy as an adult, and, strangely enough, it is his chilly, sad performance that lingers longest in the memory.

I totally agree with Amy Longstaff. This is one of the few reviews which gives Ralph Fiennes his due!!

I also agree. This sums up his brilliant performance in one sentence.
