All Things Ralph

I just read that Natasha Richardson is brain dead after a skiing accident. My heart aches for her two sons and Liam Neeson. A sad irony that he played a widower in Love Actually with a 12 year old son...Ralph will be devastated I'm sure, as they were such good friends. She was a great actress from an amazing family and will be remembered well.

I have been avoiding the site since first hearing the news of Natasha"s accident. She felt like a "Natasha"- a friend--that funny lady from Maid in Manhattan-- that beautiful woman from White Countess, and Nell.
I didn't expect her to leave us and never this soon.
On Tuesday morning, early, the local radio made a bulletin announcement that Ms. Richardson and her husband Liam Neeson had passed yesterday and overnight at Sacre Coeur hospital after she had taken a serious fall while skiing at Mont Tremblant.
My heart went to my throat and then began to speed up. At first I felt elated. How wonderful to have two such lovely people here. The hospital is only 30 minutes away by bus and I began to plan to take flowers tomorrow. I began to imagine her waking in a few weeks at the latest and having to jokingly eat the hospital's food. One of my Uncles passed away there in the 1980's after many a visit for surgery and chemo. It is a place for miracles and angels.
Across the street is Our Lady of the Angels Parish--one of my favourites.
However, by 11am there was word that she was brain dead. I couldn't believe it. It was unconfirmed, so I didn't believe it.
I waited until the announcement on Wednesday from the family and cried-- a lot. It was awful to be so close and to be able to do nothing. It was a warm, sunny and peaceful spring day and my heart went out to Mr. Neeson who lost the love of his life and to her children and family, who have lost the light and love of their lives.
Last Wednesday I was on the bus near the hospital on another lovely spring day, and remembered, as I will now always remember.
