No nomination for Ralph Fiennes!! This doesn't really come as a surprise to us, does it? It is disappointing, but this is not the end of Ralph's career. Ralph Fiennes will continue to prove his outstanding talent and there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that sooner or later he will win the Academy Award he deserves. Quality will prevail in the end, despite Hollywood politics.
As an afterthought to the discussion on this site why Ralph tends to be overlooked when it comes to Awards: You clearly shouldn't doubt the quality of scripts he chooses. Ralph's gut feeling proves to be an excellent advisor, considering that both The Reader and In Bruges are nominated for Best Script!
.
Well, it's sad that he hasn't been nominated, but I didn't expect anything else. In fact, I stopped expecting anything oscar-wise in 2005 (or was it 2006? can't remember) when he wasn't even nominated for TCG.
That's really unfortunate..he's so amazing! The Oscars snubbed everyone though. Where is all the nominations for the brilliant In Bruges! And Kristin Scott Thomas wasn't nominated!

I was disappointed but not too terribly surprised (although I'm very surprised Kristen Scott Thomas didn't get a nomination). The upside of this is now I don't have to sit through four hours of the Oscars just waiting to get a glimpse of him or see how he does.

Tru, I sat through about two hours of Ryan Seacrest at the Golden Globes hoping to see him on the red carpet. Four hours of the Oscars would be a cake walk compared to that. But now there's no need for a second round of torture.
Yes he will get it when the timeis right...an oscar can screw up an actors working career by limitimng them and he does seem to like to do a variety of things.....
