Just wanted to say hi. I was reading your page and saw where we not only share an interest in Mr. Fiennes, but in Jane Austen. I love her stories! : )
How is your writing coming along? : )
Emily, The Duchess is coming to our small town in a fortnight. I'm organising a group to go to raise money for the Hospice here. I don't write any more, and I have never been published....I have jottings all over the place. i used to speak to my friends about RF, and they all looked at me blankly, and laugh,so I just don't bother any more. I think there are certain numbers of us, who have that recognition thing....when we see quality we recognise it instantly, it doesn't matter which movie he is in, that Quality and Committment are right there, Every Time.
Dear Emily, sounds like you are going to fit in very well to our lovely "family"
We all have one man on our minds (well mostly). You replied to my comment and addressed me as Liza - wish I were as good at posting as Liza is...but my name is really Trugannini.... I'll have a look for the book you mention in our
local library - I'm sure I've seen it "around" somewhere during my long life.....
Must go now, something called housework is waiting...grrrrr talk soon :)
Hi Emily,
Yes, I have seen Wuthering Heights with R. Fiennes and Juliet Binoche. In fact, I bought it. After I saw the English Patient, I wanted to see all of his films and began ordering them or checking them out. That was one I ordereded right away. It wes intense, indeed. I loved that book when I was college,I just ordered the Lawrence of Arabia film (forget the title).
I saw The Duchess the first night it was out. It is very intense. Of course, R. Fiennes is supberb, playing an unsympathetic character: harsh and cold. There are about 2 moments when he opens beyond that, but in my mind, this does not truly transform him. And yes, Keira (sp?) is astonishing. Only 23 years old! Wow! She can be dynamic and vibrant and then you see her wounded and broken, her power as duchess limited indeed, because of the times. That was hard to know and see. Let me know if you see it and what your tthoughts are.
It's good to connect with others who admire R. Fiennes as much as we do. I was talking about him to a friend, quite engrossed in my conversation of his fine acting, how artiuclate he is and mercurial (his face can change in a moment) and she said, "You never talk about movie stars!"
alarmed. I said jokingly, "I need help." She does not know I have joined this site.
Are you a writer? I thought you were. What do you write?
Stay in touch and let me know what you think of The Duchess. Let me know if it is painful for you as it was for me,because of men and women relationships at the time, despite royalty..like Princess Diana.

Welcome Emily. Looks like you have a very interesting life! :)
Am I allowed to ask which 1914 book you are using for reference? Excuse
my curiousity, and if you would prefer not to answer I completely understand.
I am from Australia and Ralph is the best actor I have ever seen in 60 years of
theatre/film going. :)
Hi Emily,
Joy Benson here. I am new to this site and it is the first time I have joined such a site, Interesting to know so many are drawn to R. Fiennes and with such passion.
I see you are a writer. I am also.I write poetry, fiction, and have also freelanced many articles and I teach creative writing. Poetry is my passion. Writing it and reading it. Do you have favorite poets?
Have you seen The Duchess yet? If so, what did you think?
