Well my friends, as of yesterday I am an exhibiting artist!..... sort of.
The Artists Guild of Greenville has a gallery downtown and every month they feature an artist (either guild member or guest). For January they decided to do something a little different, a community mural. Three large canvases have been set up and the community has been invited to come and paint anytime this month. It's a really cool idea and had a great response this first weekend. My daughter, Aubri, and I made our contributions yesterday and I got to help the artist in attendance, Cynda Luclaire, around the gallery a bit. The mural project was her idea. We had a blast! I could so do this for a living! : )
Here's my contribution to the mural....
and here is Aubri's
The three canvases were getting pretty full so they'll probably add more as the month progresses. Aubri and I both did another piece on a second canvas, but when I was looking at a photo of that one last night I realized that I messed up the quote! We were planning on visiting again this coming weekend, so hopefully I can fix it!
A sidenote: Our Mr. Fiennes was with me in spirit as I did my work (again, sort of) Cynda was playing music as we painted. The CD she was playing was by Nora Jones and had the two songs from Ms. Jones that are played during
Maid in Manhattan,
Come Away With Me and
Don't Know Why. I had to smile at that. : )
