Dear Mindy, my computer was bad, so I couldn't answer earlier. I saw 'Duchess' once in London then twice here. We are prudish nation so the terrible scene of the rape was cut out. But he's excellent in it. I always wonder, how many souls live in this man?

Hi zsuzsanna ! I thank you for your interesting news . It's anyhow an important thing that you could know these people connected with the Count Almasy . In the movie the plot can be different : no matter , as we know that in the movies the reality becomes whimsical and fantastic : no matter .
Thank you Zsuzsanna. I'm glad you have replied this way. The whole article disturbed me. It enhanced my distrust of some psychiatrists. I am happy to hear your opinion. Let me know when you have finished reading. The author presented this paper at a convention - perhaps using it to illustrate some point or other, but as for TEP, the novel, I'm sure Oondatje didn't intend the characters to be read in this way. So, you knew someone who knew Almasy - that's rather exciting!!! :)

I don't arrive in London until the November 13th, unfortunately. I'm seeing the play on the 14th. I didn't even think about getting a ticket for the next day to be able to see him twice, but I'll look on line to see if there are any tickets left.
I hope at some point some of us will be able to meet each other. Maybe the next time he performs on stage we should all try to go on the same day. That would be fun!

Hello Zsuzsanna, I think Dr. Norman Doidge has used TEP as what could be seen as an example of schizoid states, using the characters of Almasy and Katherine. All of the characters in the movie were 'normal', of course. I will send you a note off this

you're feeling better. I only saw Boyer, as we all did, on the screen,
and maybe one or two articles in a magazine back in the 1940's.
I enjoyed every movie of his that I saw...he had a 'presence', not handsome, in the accepted sense, but the presence was strong.
He, like Ralph, could play good or bad, with just some slight
movement of his facial muscles, and he was never over dramatic, he achieved the desired result in subtle ways.
I have an article on schizoid states written by a pschiatrist about the characters in TEP. I found it interesting, you may also, if you haven't read it already. I can send it to you if you would like, but I need your e-mail address to do it. I've been trying to post it here, but do not know how. Best wishes, :)
