About film remakes... What role would you suggest for Ralph Fiennes?

Hi everybody!

I think Ralph would be perfect in a remake of Hitchcock's Spellbound. Do you remember Gregory Peck? Or in another Hitchcock's wonderful movie, Vertigo. James Stewart is one of Ralph's favorite actors, if I remember well. Some other possibilities come into my mind: from Shining (ok, Jack Nicholson was superb) to Rebecca (another Hitchcock's movie, with a great Laurence Olivier).

So, what would you suggest?

Rebecca ! I'd like so much seeing Ralph in a remake of this !

I would vote for Doctor Faustus, he would make an amazing Faustus, or even an amazing Mephistophilis. The same goes for Master and Margarita, he would be a splendid Woland.
Another film I think of is Gone with the Wind!
Gone too far? I know! : D

Gone with the wind... why not? Ashley Wilkes, a gentleman. He loves Melanies, yet he's obsessed by Scarlett.. never able to deal with his true feelings.

I don't know.. I never liked Ashley! Maybe if Ralph played him as you described, he would be likable to me. I just thought of Dead Ringers. Though I think Jeremy Irons has done well in that film, just wondring about the cold yet passonate acting of Fiennes. I would also love to see him play Macbeth. That would be a great rule for him.

I want to add: he would make a splendid Judge Frollo from the Hunchback of Notre Dame!

Yes, I agree. Ralph would be a wonderful Judge Frollo.

And what about Joseph K, the role portrayed by Anthony Perkins in Orson Welles' "The Trial", from Kafka's novel?

He would do a great job in that film! It's just his area!

I would also vote for Ingmar Bergman's "The seventh seal" and "Scenes from a marriage".

He would make an Excellent Mr Darcy!! in Pride and Prejustice but that book has been flogged to death!! In Ben Hur, he would make a great evil Messala (the roman general who was Ben's childhood friend)who rides in the chariot race against Ben and meets a sticky end.

The Seventh Seal is a splendid choice though it's not my favourite film. It would be great for Fiennes!
Also Scenes from a Marriage.
Lety, I am happily envious! Your choices are very neat and deep! Bless you..
Lorraine,
Yes, that's a great role for him. It is somehow related t Ramses.
I see him as Mr. Darcy more than any another role. I don't know why, but I do see him.
What about Gene Hackman's part in the Unforgiven?

Yes, why not? And what about William Wyler's "The heiress"? Ralph could be a superb "Morris Townsend", to me... so tender and ambiguous, at the same time...

Brita, you mention "Hign Noon" in another discussion, if I remember well, and I agree! Yes, Ralph would be a wonderful Marshal Kane.
