Ralph Fiennes...love him no matter what.

What do you think of Voldemort this time around?

For me he wasn't as scary...perhaps that is on purpose, as he becomes more humanized as the books progressed, and less a demonic icon. I wonder if Ralph is influencing this at all, as he succeeded in changing the demonic icon of Amon Goeth to an almost human character.
What do YOU think?

I havent seen yet the new HP movie so i dont know how exactly he portrays his role. But i read the final book of Rowling and i can see that when she was writting about Voldemort she has in mind Ralph. The last book is full with Voldy and i think that when she was writting it she has in mind a certain person for the role.

I agree with you Alkioni, I felt she was writing the book almost too much for the actors and the way she wanted it to come out visually. Some of her descriptions are almost stage directions...oh well...hopefully it will translate well to film. I think that ultimately he will be a more humanized version of the character. I'm looking forward to the next one, maybe we'll get to see some Voldemort without the snake face...haha.

Stephanie,
I agree 100%. I knew that Ralph's very few appearenes (mostly in Harry's dreams) last nanoseconds each... I was prepared for that ... BUT...he mostly does grimaces & ugly faces, sticking his tongue out. Nothing like his graceful appearence in the previous film. The only thing recognizable (and good) about his acting was his voice in the final scene...
At points the film seemed to rush through things, at points it seemed to leave matters unresolved.
Great photography, more and more visual effects (truly stunning tho), I also really took notice of the music this time. The final battle between good and evil was short and lacked all the grace and atmosphere of the previous one. It was very easy for Harry to get rid of Voldermort, or at least it was presented so...

Quite disappointed to be honest.

Eva,
I'm glad I finally find someone who agrees on this. I think the film almost was too literal to the books, and also you are right it was TOO EASY at the end. It didn't have the danger feeling of the last one. The only good scene of RF was in that suit...haha....I have a feeling RF had a hand in that decision...as he's always said he likes to really get involved with wardrobe. The utter disconcerting sight of Voldemort in an awesome suit worked incredibly, but the rest was lame.

Glad to see you back!
Mary

I wasn't as blown away by Ralph's Voldemort in this latest film compared to the last one. It's interesting how some of you guys think Voldemort was written with Ralph in mind. It never occurred to me reading the books, but I'm happy they picked Ralph for Voldemort in the end. I would imagine that in the last film, Ralph was under a lot of pressure and knew a lot was at stake considering this would be our first visual introduction to Voldemort as a character coming to life as opposed to just hearing about him. He got such good reviews in GOF and I remember having chills in the back of my neck from the few minutes that we saw of him in the graveyard scene. I didn't get any of that in this latest film. I hope it gets better in the next films.
