Ralph Fiennes...love him no matter what.

The Cormorant and having been to some theater play!?

As far as I am new around here and met so many nice people yet (thanks for all your replies, mails and so on), I have some more questions:

I have all of Ralphs movies on DVD (or video at least) - except for "The Cormorant". Does anyone know where one can get it from or if it is planned to be released on DVD?

And I also would like to know if anyone of you has ever been to a theater play of Ralph? He's great in movies but his real love is the stage where he came from - he must be a real theater animal (in an absolute positive way!). I would have loved to see him live in Julius Caesar... London would be the nearest for me when it comes to theater and as far as I have read/heard he should appear in two plays next year. Anyone of you planning to go???

:-) Diana

Hi Diana,
Welocme again and thanks for jumping in and posting!

I don't have the Cormorant on dvd or vhs...but I'm sure somebody does and can point you in the right direction.

I've seen Ralph in Coriolanus and The Talking Cure. Both times I got to meet him after at the stage door (and once in the street). It's worth the traveling, whatever you have to do to go, because he's mesmerizing on stage....ten times more than the most dramatic moments from his films. You can just feel the air crackle...with electricity from him...it's the IT factor. He's USUALLY good about meeting fans after at the stage doors, though some have had more negative experiences (we think that might have been moodiness due to his recent romantic upheavals...we'll see about next time). So definitely come to the plays next year....I'm sure Stella and Carolyn will be at one or both of them, and a host of others from this site and other forums, so check around:-) I'm hoping to go to one of them. The rumors about one or both coming over to the U.S. are still rumors as far as we know....so I'd try to get to London if you can.

Hi Diana,
I saw on your profile that you are from Germany, like me :-)

As for The Cormorant, as far as I know it hasn't been released on dvd or vhs, but they show it occasionally on German tv (mostly Bayern 3). If I stumble over it in the tv program I will let you know.

Hi sweetralph,

also from Germany? Hey, what a coincidence. I thought there's no one else here from Germany! Where do you come from?
Well, I must have missed it every time it was on... Would be great, if you could tell me when it will be aired again!!! Thanks!

Hi Diana,

I come from Northern Germany.

You should definitely try to see him on stage, it will be an overwhelming experience. He is even better on stage than on the big screen. It's really worth travelling to see him in a play. It's an event you won't forget. :-)

Well, that sounds just like you've already had that experience!?

I have no idea how to get tickets for a play in London or somewhere else outside Germany. And then you have to get everything straight with a flight and some free time at work... I hope I can do this next year! I don't want to wait much longer - I know myself, if I wait too long I won't do it anymore... ever...

Where have you seen him? Will you do it again?

From Northern Germany - hmmmm... that means you could easily travel to Hamburg and see one of my favorite singers (Pat Fritz www.pat-fritz.de ) perform live - envy!!!

Unfortunately here in Italy Ralph's films (except Harry Potter's) are seldom shown on tv. ((

I really hope to get to London, next year (to see "Oedipus"), but I'm not sure I can try and meet him at the stage door. I'm afraid he could be bothered. Ok, when I'm there, I'll see what to do.

Diana,

yes, I've already had that experience. I saw him in London in Julius Caesar (2005), and in Dublin in Faith Healer (2006). I have to admit I liked FH much better.

You can book tickets via internet or by phone (which I did for FH, since they didn't have an online booking system at that time), either way you usually need a credit card. Of course it is a bit of "work" to book tickets and organise the trip (flight, hotel etc), but...hey...IT'S WORTH IT, really. You won't regret it.

I will definitely try to see him next year in both plays (if the play in March is going to happen).

I got my copy of the Cormorant from a US Company called Movielead Google will find them
for you. It cost a bit more that way, but it was the only way I could get it. Good luck :)

Hi, You can buy The Cormorant from Movielead a US Company specialising in searching
for out-of-date, out-of-print films. I bought mine from them about 4 months ago. It cost a little
more, but it was worth it. I don't think it will be re-released. Good luck. Let me know how
you got on. :)
