Hi Kim
sorry to hear about your daughter, what a nightmare! Hope she is recovering well and her teeth aren't too sore!!
Yes, I saw the Duchess last night. It was very good and I really enjoyed it. I want to see it again as the first time you can't take everything in!!!! Keira is the main character and was very good. Ralph was gorgeous, as ever and played the part really well. His character is a quiet man of few words. There are lots of close ups of his face and eyes..... Those eyes drive me crazy, sort of bluey grey from a distance, then close up, sort of greeny hazel in the centre with a grey outer rim. Go to bed eyes, I would call them.....If those eyes looked into mine, they would be saying, don't try and resist me, just give in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He was perfect as the Duke, a different role for him especially with the wig, but he was great. He really became the Duke to me, I didn't see Almasy or Heathcliff........... It is amazing how the same person can look and be so different each time he takes on a role, but I suppose that's why he is an actor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is one scene where he takes off his clothes on his wedding night. WOW.......... A FINE FIGURE OF A MAN OR WHAT!!!!!!!! Hairy, muscley, he really does it for me!!!!!!!!!
Oh Kim I hope it comes to a theater near you..... You will love it!!!!
I still haven't see In Bruges.........or B & D!!!!!!!!!!
Great to hear from you

How are you????? Good I hope. Any news on The Duchess in your area?? It was the premiere last night in London, have a look at the video of it on youtube.

Hi
I must get myself some movie soundtrack CDs, have you got the music from EP on CD?
'The age of Innocence' is a film that I have seen on TV a couple of times and thought, 'I must get that DVD', but never got round to it. I haven't seen it for a few years now, so will treat myself to it as I would love to see it again, I remember when it finished, I thought, 'Now that's my kinda film, great acting, great story, I loved it!!!!!!!!
I saw 'The Holiday' a few months back, and enjoyed it too. The village where it was filmed (Shere) is about 20 miles from us and is somewhere where we have been going for years for long country walks. Where I live is a bit more modern than that, but we have lots of quaint little villages nearby. Here is a newspaper piece on Shere.
"Such are the photogenic qualities of Shere, near Guildford, that it was used for a scene in Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason, when Renee Zellweger is bridesmaid as her parents renew their marriage vows.
The romantic comedy The Holiday, starring Jude Law and Cameron Diaz, was also filmed there. A two-bedroom cottage in the village is currently on the market for £715,000. ($1,500,000)
I was born in Guildford.
Her is a pciture of where I will be going on Tuesday, the lone chapel on the hill called St Catherines and dates from the 14th century. It was built by monks as a beacon for pilgrims coming to worship at the abbey in the village below. The chapel survived the Dissolution of the Monasteries that destroyed the abbey, because it was useful as a beacon to sailors.
Because it was dedicated to St Catherine, the patron saint of spinsters, the chapel became popular as a place for women to pray for a husband............. I digress away from Ralph Fiennes!!!!!
I do go on don't I !!!!!!

See you,
Marina.
Thanks for your kind words and for the wellcom! :)))
I am russian, but i live in Israel :)
I don't remember how many times i already told to the girls here how much i adore this man and everything about him!
I'll stick around ;)
Who could forget Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy, and then he goes and pops up in EP as poor old Jeffrey..... And now he is in 'Mama Mia'!!!!!! Another busy actor!!
Two films that I haven't seen in ages, but I remember enjoying at the time are 'Dangerous Liasons' with Glenn Close and 'The age of Innocence' with Daniel Day Lewis.
The Duchess, is going to be worth the wait. If I get any info about the uk premiere I will let you know. There could well be some nice pics of our boy on the red carpet!!!!!
Take care

not going camping until Tuesday, so I'm still here in sunny Owlsmoor!! Although, have had thunder and rain today.... I love 'Room with a view' too and all films like that, Did you see 'Wings of a Dove', Helena BC is in that one too.
We do have a lot of woods around us, as Owlsmoor used to be part of Windsor Great Park, a few hundred years ago, Henry VIII's hunting ground. It is a fairly modern village, my house is about 30 years old, though there are some cottages dating from Victorian times, with tiny windows and doors.
Yes, a Fayre is a sort of Bazaar, we have a cake stall, refreshments, games for the children, crafts for sale, competitions with prizes to be won!!!!! All good fun..
Take care

go and see 'Mama Mia', you won't be disappointed, I loved it, everyone was singing along and clapped when it finished. The added bonus for me was that they showed 'The Duchess' trailer................ To see him and hear his voice, heaven!!! I think that it is going to be a popular film. They are really hyping it up over here. Keira is really popular and the film will be released everywhere. Critics are really getting excited and reckon it will be in line for Oscar nominations, there is a real buzz about it here in England.
Roll on September 5th!!!!!
Sorry to hear that your parents are sick, it must be a worry for you. It is difficult growing old, life never seems to get easier....... Thanks for putting my dad in your prayer journal.
I go to church in my village, and was churchwarden for a couple of years, looking after the building and contents and making sure the vicar was ok.......... It was an interesting role, I help with junior church now and always get involved in fundraising and the summer fayre. It is a small church with a congregation of about 100, which isn't many considering about 10,000 people live in the parish........... I also help to edit the chuch magazine which is called 'The Hoot', as our village is called Owlsmoor.
I think Dorset is where Ralph's mother is buried, I will find out if it is nearby and maybe go and visit the church.
Jane Austen's house is in the next county to us, and is a museum. There are lots of things in it that belonged to her, like her writing desk and her clothes. Her dress on diplay is tiny. She was very small and slim, like a child.
Bye for now
